Historical Background
Manassas Virginia is comprised of about 9.93 square miles, and is located 30 miles west of Washington, D.C.  The area is rich in civil war history.  In 1861, the First Battle of Manassas (also known as the First Battle of Bull Run) is considered by many historians as the first major land battle of the American Civil War. The second Battle of Manassas/Bull Run was fought on August 28-30, 1862.

Statistics
Manassas Virginia real estate is essentially "built out," meaning that almost all developable parcels have been built upon.  As of the 2008 census, there were 35,205 people, up only .2% since 2000 population of 35,135.  There are 11,757 households living in Manassas Virginia.  The city is mainly served by I-66, US-29, and Virginia State Route 28.  Manassas Regional Airport is mostly located within the city limits.

Schools
Manassas Virginia has five elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.  Mayfield Intermediate School opened in September of 2006, serving students in fifth and sixth grade.
