Historical Background
Manassas Park is comprised of about 9.93 square miles, and is located 30 miles west of Washington, D.C.  The area is rich in civil war history.  In 1861, the First Battle of Manassas (also known as the First Battle of Bull Run) is considered by many historians as the first major land battle of the American Civil War.  The second Battle of Manassas/Bull Run was fought on August 28-30, 1862.
